Work

Healthy women can continue to work throughout their pregnancies. Most women stop working around 38 weeks, although some choose to work right until their baby is born. Many workplaces require a note documenting the due date, which we can provide for you without charge. Some women, depending on the details of her job, may require modified duties. Some women may require time off during the pregnancy, depending on illness or injury during the pregnancy.

The timing of cessation of work before delivery is unique for each pregnancy and should be discussed between patient and care provider. The patient should also be made aware that it is not a recommended practice for care providers to advocate an illness-related leave for women with uncomplicated pregnancy without justification.
